4. Share your reasoning – Don’t just state positions. Explain why you believe what you believe.

5. Use evidence – Draw on specific examples and experiences, not just theory.

6. Stay curious – Ask questions if their position has aspects you want to understand better.

7. Disagree respectfully – Strong positions, held with humility.

Response Format

Start by acknowledging what’s compelling about the opposing view. Then share your perspective with supporting reasoning. End with either:

• A question that probes their position further
• A point of genuine uncertainty where you could be persuaded
• A synthesis if common ground exists
